Official launch of the European research initiative SEURAT (Safety Evaluation Ultimately Replacing Animal Testing)

Cascais, Portugal

Nearly 100 scientists from over 70 European organisations have come together in Cascais (Portugal) to kick-off the EUR 50 million European research initiative SEURAT (Safety Evaluation Ultimately Replacing Animal Testing) funded by EU-FP7 HEALTH programme and the European Cosmetics Association (COLIPA). The meeting for the first time brought together members of the six cluster projects SCR&Tox, HeMiBio, DETECTIVE, COSMOS, NOTOX and TOXBANK, which are to cooperate under the initiative to achieve the overall goal of replacing animal testing in human safety assessment.
